POLICE OFFICERS

Be there when your community needs you most.

Joplin Police Officers protect and serve the community through patrol, emergency response, investigations, crime prevention, traffic enforcement, and building relationships with the people they serve. Prior law-enforcement experience is preferred for some positions, but the City also considers qualified applicants who need academy training.

FIREFIGHTERS

When the call comes in, you don’t hesitate.

Joplin firefighters respond to emergencies and work as a team to protect lives and property. Firefighter I and II certification and EMT certification are preferred for new fire personnel, along with a valid driver’s license and other required qualifications.

EMERGENCY DISPATCHERS

You could be the voice someone remembers for the rest of their life.

Joplin’s Emergency Communications Center handles emergency and non-emergency calls and coordinates responses for police, fire, and medical incidents. Dispatchers work in a fast-paced environment where communication, decision-making, teamwork, and staying calm under pressure can make all the difference. The City provides extensive training and certification for new dispatchers.
